Bio

Dana Gaines, Academic Adviser/Instructor, joined the CSU staff in summer of 2011. She received her MSW from Colorado State University. While earning her graduate degree Mrs. Gaines focused her research on recidivism rates of youth in outpatient drug and alcohol treatment settings who were also involved in the child welfare and juvenile court systems. Since 2000 she has worked in both urban and rural communities as a child protection caseworker including work in abuse/neglect investigations, foster care, juvenile courts, and juvenile sex offender management. She continued her professional expertise in the field of child welfare while living in California (2007 - 2010) by coordinating the Los Angeles County IV-E child welfare stipend program for California State University Northridge while also serving as a field liaison and field instructor. She has been licensed in the state of Colorado since summer of 2011. Her direct practice experience focused on providing trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy to child/youth survivors of trauma and their families.
