Bio

Susan Tungate, Field Education Director, joined Colorado State University in 1993, and has served as the School of Social Work Field Education Director since January 2012. Prior to this, Dr. Tungate served as the interim Director of Field Education, the Assistant Director of Field Education, and the Site and Field Education Coordinator for the Distance part-time MSW Program. Since 1994, she has provided field instruction and served as a faculty field liaison for the MSW and BSW Programs. In addition to teaching in the graduate and undergraduate programs (Community Practice, Program Evaluation Research, Social Work with Special Populations, Diversity), Dr. Tungate has worked with the evaluation unit of High Plains Intermountain Center for Agricultural Safety and Health and the Human Services Assessment Project as a research associate, and with the Colorado Collaborative Partnership as its director. HICAHS and HSAP provided program evaluation research services and consultation. CCP provided consultation, training and technical assistance to human services agencies (primarily Colorado County departments of human services, children, youth and families services) through an interagency agreement with the School of Social Work and the Colorado Department of Human Services. Dr. Tungate received a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Human Resources Studies - Interdisciplinary Studies and MSW degrees from Colorado State University. Her dissertation research addressed Welfare and Child Welfare Collaboration. Dr. Tungate's prior practice experience includes working in the areas of domestic/interpersonal violence, medical social work, and program evaluation.
