Welcome to the School of Social Work Field Education web page. Field education connects the contribution of the classroom with the opportunity to practice skills and integrate knowledge in an agency setting. The BSW and MSW field education program in the School of Social Work offers students a practice experience of quality and challenge in an agency setting under the guidance and field instruction of a BSW or MSW field instructor. The generalist and advanced generalist practice opportunities implement the knowledge, values, and skills learned in the classroom as well as expanding practice skills that address foundation and concentration-level practice behaviors and competencies (pdf). Student feedback indicates that the field education experience is valued as one of the most important elements in their social work education.
